SHELLS-ON-THE-SIDE TANK



SIZES: Directions are given for size small. Changes for size medium [M] and Large [L] are in brackets. S[M,L]

FINISHED SIZES: Bust - 33 inches for size small. 37 inches for size medium. 41 inches for size large. Fincshed length from underarm to bottom edge is 15 inches for all sizes.

MATERIALS: TLC Cotton Plus medium (worsted) weight yarn (3.5 oz/178 yds/100g per skein) 4 skeins for all sizes.
Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size hook needed to obtain gauge.
Tapestry needle

GAUGE: Sc, sh5, sc = 2 inches. 4 rows = 2 inches.

SPECIAL STITCHES: sh5 - 5dc in same stitch.

NOTE: Body of garment is worked as long rectangle with short sides joined to form a tube. Front yoke is worked with right side facing and side seam on left.


BODY
ROW 1 - Ch 79. Sc in second ch from hook. *Skip 2 ch, sh5 in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch* across. Turn.
ROW 2 - Ch2, dc in same space, *sc in top of third dc of sh5 below, sh5 in next sc* across to last two stitches. 2dc in last sc. Turn.
ROW 3 - Ch1, sc in same stitch. *Sh5 in next sc, sc in top of third dc of next sh5,* across to last stitch. Sc in top of ch2. Turn.
For size MEDIUM, Repeat rows 2 and 3 once. For size LARGE, repeat rows 2 and 3 twice.
ROW 4 [6, 8] - Rep row 2 again. Turn.
ROW 5 [7, 9] - Repeat row 3. At end of row, ch9.
ROW 6 [8, 10] - Sc in second ch from hook. Skip 2ch, sh5 in next ch, skip 2ch, sc in the next ch*. *SH5 in the next sc, sc in the top of the third dc of the next sh5*. Repeat from * to * across. End with two dc in last sc. Turn.
ROWS 7- 31 [9-36, 11-40] - Repeat rows 2 and 3.
ROW 33 [37, 41] - Repeat row 2 for total of 8 sh5. Sc in third dc of next sh5, 2dc in next sc. Turn.
Row 34 [38, 42] - Repeat row 3.
ROWS 35-36 [39-42, 43-48] Repeat rows 2 and 3.
ROW 37 [43, 49]- Repeat row 2 to last sc. Sh5 in last sc instead of 2dc. Ch26.
ROW 38 [44, 50] - Sc in second ch from hook. *Skip 2 ch, sh5 in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch across to last sh5 of previous row. *Sc in third dc of next sh5, sh5 in next sc across to last sc. 2dc in last sc. Turn.
ROW 39 [45, 51] - Ch1, sc in same space. *Sh5 in next sc, sc in third dc of next sc across to last sc. 2dc in last sc. Turn.
ROWS 40 -64 [46-72, 52-82]- Repeat row 39 [45, 53].
ROW 65 [73, 83 ] - Ch1, sc in same space. *Sh5 in next sc, sc in third dc of next sh5 across for total of 8 shells. Sc in third dc of next shell, 2dc in next sc. Turn.
Fasten off.
Join side seam.

FRONT YOKE
ROW 1 - With right side facing, join yarn with sl st to top of right side of front. Work 37 evenly spaced sc across. Turn
ROW 2 - CH3. Dc in same sc. * Skip 2sc, Vstitch in next sc*. Repeat from * to * across. 2dc in last sc. Turn
ROW 3 - Ch4. Tr in next dc. *3tr in ch-1 sp of next V-st*. Repeat from * to * across to last two sts. Tr in dc and in top of turning ch. Turn.
ROW 4 -Ch2. Dc in next tr. *V-st in second tr of next shell*. Repeat from * to * to last 2 sts.
Dc in next tr and top of turning ch. Turn
RIGHT STRAP
ROW 5- Ch4, tr in next dc. 3tr in ch-1 sp of each of the next two V-sts. 2tr in next V-st. Turn
ROW 6 - Ch3, dc in same st. V-st in second tr of next two shells. Tr in next dc and tr in top of turning ch. Turn.
ROWS 7and 8 - Repeat rows 5 and 6 once more. Fasten off.
LEFT STRAP
With WS facing, join yarn in third V-st from left. Work rows 5-8 as for right strap. Fasten off.
Join shoulder seams.

Sc around neckline, armholes and bottom edge. Weave in all ends.

Banana Bay





FINISHED SIZES: Directions are for 32-34 inch bust (small). Changes for 36-38 inch bust (medium) and 40-42 inch bust (large) are in brackets. S[M, L]

FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS: Bust - 33 inches (small), 37 inches (medium), 41 inches (large). Length from underarm to bottom edge- 12.5 [13.5, 14.5] inches.

3 [4, 4] skeins of YELLOW #3222

GAUGE: 9 sc and 16 rows = 4 inches

NOTE: The body of this garment is worked sideways. You will make a long rectangle then seam the short sides together to form a tube. The yoke of the garment is worked in the round after the tube is made.

SPECIAL STITCHES: Shell 4 (sh4) - Dc, {ch-1, dc} three times.
Shell 3 (sh3) - Dc, {ch-1, dc} twice.

WARNING: Top is close fitting. For looser fit, follow directions for next larger size.

BODY
ROW1 - Ch 46 [54, 62]. Sc in second ch from hook. *ch-1, skip one ch, sc in next ch * across. Sc in last ch. Turn.
ROW2 -132 [148, 164] - Ch-1. Sc in first sc (at base of ch on hook). *ch-1, skip ch, sc in next sc* across. Sc in last sc. Turn.
FOR SIZE SMALL: Place stitch markers at end of rows 9, 57, 75 and 123.
FOR SIZE MEDIUM: Place stitch markers at end of rows 11, 63, 85 and 137.
FOR SIZE LARGE: Place stitch markers at end of rows 13, 69, 95 and 151.
Fasten off at end of row 132[148, 164].
Fold rectangle in half widthwise and seam short ends together to form tube.
YOKE
ROW1- Working with right side facing and with side seam on left, join yarn with sl st to row end at row marker 57 [63, 69]. Evenly distribute 42 sc between row marker 57 [63, 69] and row marker 9 [11, 13]. Ch 30[30,36]. Sc in row end at row marker 75 [85, 95]. Evenly distribute 42 sc between row marker 75 [85, 95] and 123 [137, 151]. Ch 30[30, 36]. Join to first sc at row marker 57 [63, 69] with sl st. Remove row markers.
ROW2- CH-3. Dc, ch-1, dc in same sl st as ch-3. *Skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, skip 2 sc, sh4 in next sc* around to ch-3. {DC, ch-1} twice in same sc as ch-3. Sl st in top of ch-3.
ROW3 - Ch-1. Sc in sl st. *Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in ch space between second and third dc of next sh4* around to first sc. Join with sl st in first sc.
ROW4 - Ch-3. Dc, ch-1, dc in same sl st as ch-3. *Sc in top of next dc, sh4 in next sc*. Repeat from * to * six times. Sc in top of next dc, sh3. Repeat from * to * four [four, five] times. Sc in top of next dc, sh3. Repeat from * to * seven times. Sc in top of next dc, sh3. Repeat from * to * four [four, five] times. Sc in top of next dc, sh3. Sc on top of next dc. Dc, ch-1, dc in same space as first ch-3. Join to top of ch-3 with sl st.
ROW5 - Ch-1. Sc in sl st. *Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in ch space between second and third dc of next sh4*. Repeat from * to * six times. Ch-2. Dc in next sc. Ch-2, sc in top of secone dc of sh3. Repeat from * to * four [four, five] times. Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in top of second dc of sh3. Repeat from * to * seven times. Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in top of second dc of sh3. Repeat from * to * four [four, five] times. Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in top of second dc of sh3, ch-2. sl st in first sc.
ROW6 - Ch-3. Dc, ch-1 dc in same sl st as ch-3. *Sc in top of next dc, sh3 in in next sc* around to first ch-3. Dc, ch-1, dc in first sl st. Join to top of ch-3 with sl st.
ROW7 - Ch-1. Sc in sl st. *Ch-1. Dc in next sc, ch-1, sc in top of second dc of next sh3* around.
REPEAT ROWS 6 and 7 once more.
LAST ROW - Ch-3. * Sc in top of next dc, dc, ch-1, dc in next sc* around to first ch-3. Dc in same sc as ch-3 space. Ch-1. Sl st in second ch of ch-3. Fasten off.

Sc around neck, armholes and bottom edge OR work the following shell design across the bottom edge. I think it looks fine either way.

BOTTOM EDGE
With right side facing, evenly distribute 132 sc in bottom edge. Join to first sc with sl st.
ROW1 - Ch-3. Dc, ch-1, dc in same sl st as ch-3. *Skip two sc, sc in next sc, skip two sc, sh4 in next sc*. Repeat from * to * around to last three sc. Sc in third to last sc, skip two sc, dc, ch-1, dc in same sl st as begining ch-3. Sl st to top of ch-3.
ROW2 - Ch-1. Sc in sl st. *Ch-2. Dc in next sc, ch-2, sc in ch-1 space between second and third dc of sh4* around. Join to first sc with sl st. Fasten off.
